More About Jesus

John the Baptist – Who was he?

John the Baptist was a Prophet of God, a great and mighty Preacher, the voice crying in the wilderness, whose sole objective was to prepare the way for the coming of the Messiah.

John the Baptist was not only the God assigned forerunner for Jesus Christ, but he was also powerfully anointed to bear witness of Him; for this Messiah was the coming Light of the World, THE REEDEMER, in which John fervently preached about, preparing the people for this Deliverer and Saviour of all mankind.

See more about this in John 1:6-9 –

“There was a man sent from God, whose name was John. 7 This man came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all through him might believe. 8 He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light. 9 That was the true Light which gives light to every man coming into the world”.

See also John’s declaration – John 1:23

“He said: “I am `The voice of one crying in the wilderness: “Make straight the way of the Lord,” as the prophet Isaiah said.”

All was prepared for the coming of Jesus Christ, both on Earth and in Heaven;

Prophets also prophesied and foretold the coming of Jesus, foretelling His Glory and powerful works that was ahead; they also prophesied His death and resurrection, and how this lamb of God would fulfil God’s will to save His children from their sins, for only through Jesus the Son of God could this GREAT AND POWERFUL MISSION TO SAVE be fulfilled.

See refs. Matthew 1:21 and Isaiah 9:6

When the prophecy was fulfilled concerning Jesus’s coming to Earth, and also when Jesus first appeared to John, By the Prophetic Revelation power of God John immediately proclaimed at the sighting of Jesus:

Behold the Lamb of God which taketh away the sins of the world” (ref. John 1:29).

Jesus The Way the Truth and The Life

When a man comes to awareness of The Light, which can only take place by the help and power of the Holy Spirit, who reveals the mysteries of God unto mankind, it is truly a phenomenon in the life of the individual; for the receiving of spiritual wisdom and knowledge concerning God and His Son, which must also be coupled with the individual’s faith, results in the individual experiencing the life changing transition, from the earthly realm of sin and death, to New Life of eternal spiritual fulfilment in the light and glory of God.

This transitional period of change sets the foundation of deliverance and Healing, which spiritually liberates the spirit of man, which will inevitably lead to eternal life, but this can only take place by the individual’s steadfast continuous Faith in God and His Son.

This gift of New life in the spirit is liberally given by the redeeming Power of the Holy Spirit, this is also hinged by the individual’s made up mind in terms of his surrendering and resolved decision to stand in allegiance with God and His Son Jesus; and only by this anointing of the transforming Power of God can this life altering experience be a reality in one’s life.

Obstacles to God

Question – Why are there earthly limitations which prevents man receiving reconciliation and New Life in the Spirit with God?

Answer: Humans are limited to the earthly realm of flesh and blood because of sin, hence humans without the transforming power of the Holy Spirit, absolutely cannot go beyond the flesh to experience the spiritual things of God because they are spiritually discerned.

Colossians 2:13 makes clear to all, that they who are spiritually dead to God because of sin, are prevented by their sinful flesh, which prevents them from entering into any kind of spiritual fellowship with God; this condition consequently renders the individual unable to breakthrough with Him; for only through Jesus Christ are we able to experience the Glory of God, by his Spirit of liberation, healing, and Power which is given liberally during restoration, wherein we receive the breakthrough to truly fellowship with God, which in-turn opens the path way that we’re able to enter into the Realm of the spirit.

Let us see Colossians 2:13 which reveals that when we come alive in the Lord, we’re indeed truly together with Him in the spirit:

“And you, being dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, he has made alive together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses”

Recap –

According to 1 Corinthians 2:14 (below) the natural man cannot receive the spiritual things of God; however when the individual accepts Jesus, and begins to receive knowledge by the spirit, and is also actively denouncing sin in his life, by the help of the Holy Spirit the individual will begin to grow in the spirit, which will in-turn bring spiritual awareness, growth, enlightenment and foremost deliverance from sin; Note, the impact of God’s intervention will enable the individual to be a partaker of His Glory throughout. See the scripture below:

“But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned” 1 Corinthians 2:14

To further substantiate the above see below 2 Peter 1:2-8; for our spiritual growth and our awareness of God is irrefutably determined by God’s grace, who removes the barrier of fleshiness/sinfulness by our receiving of God’s divine spiritual knowledge, by faith:-

“Grace and Peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord, 3 His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue, by which have been given to us exceedingly great and precious promises, that through these you may be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust. But also for this very reason, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue, to virtue knowledge,
to knowledge self-control, to self control perseverance, to perseverance godliness, to godliness brotherly kindness, and to brotherly kindness love. For if these things are yours and abound, you will be neither barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ” .

Ephesians 2:1-5

“And you He made alive, who were dead in trespasses and sins, 2 in which you once walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit who now works in the sons of disobedience, 3 among whom also we all once conducted ourselves in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, just as the others. 4 But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, 5 even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved)”.

Note, according to the Life giving Spirit of God we receive strength to overcome the world of sin…

The Persecution and Crucifixion of Jesus was ordained by God

Jesus Accused

Jesus was accused of breaking the laws of Moses which greatly contributed to his crucifixion and death; however according to Matthew 23:13-15 (below) Jesus didn’t break any laws of God except to expose the corruption in the hearts of those people who professed to love God, but lived ungodly lives. Jesus also declared unto them that Love was the fulfilment of God’s Commandments.

This revelation exposed the sins that was prevalent amongst the religious Scribes and Pharisees. See scriptures below where Jesus spoke against them:

Matthew 23: 13-15.

“But woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you shut up the kingdom of heaven against men; for you neither go in yourselves, nor do you allow those who are entering to go in. 14Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you devour widows’ houses, and for a pretence make long prayers. Therefore you will receive greater condemnation.

15 Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you travel land and sea to win one proselyte, and when he is won, you make him twice as much a son of hell as yourselves”.

Jesus also worked powerful miracles in the midst of the Scribes and Pharisees, by the healing of the sick and the raising of the dead, which they themselves were unable to do.

He also exposed their hypocrisies which resulted in their shaming; Due to this shaming great opposition was shown towards Jesus and His disciples. Nevertheless, Jesus continued to declare the gospel of Good News and the revelation of God’s Word, which they couldn’t except or see because of the darkness of their hearts; hence, the revelation of God’s Word uncovered and exposed their ignorance and blindness to the truth which greatly attested against them.

This exposure triggered off a deadly rage within this religious sect, that these religious leaders secretly planned their accusations based on their total disregard of the truth which Jesus had revealed to them.

This disregard coupled with their grievances ultimately led to Jesus been put to death; See ref. Matthew 12:14:

“Then the Pharisees went out and plotted against Him, how they might destroy Him”.

However, we must keep in mind that God his Father had already prepared for Jesus Christ to suffer persecution, to take on the sins of the whole world. And through this sequence of events which would involve, hostility and opposition against him, it would ultimately lead to the inevitable.

A Perfect Sacrifice for Sin Was Required

Nothing that was sinful could be presented to God – Only Jesus could fill this requirement – See 1 John 3:5

And you know that He was manifested to take away our sins, and in Him there is no sin”.

According to 1 John 3:5  Jesus was without sin, How? Jesus came out from God, sinless, who was manifested the Lamb of God, the perfect sacrifice for sin. Note, Jesus was not conceived by a sinful man, but by the Power of the Holy Spirit which overshadowed Mary.

This ultimate sacrifice which man desperately needed, with God’s great acts of mercies, was the only way man could receive reconciliation with Him; And in victory Jesus would be raised to life three days after his crucifixion, nailing sin and destruction to the cross for those who believe.

ref. 1 Corinthians 15:3-4

The reason my Father loves me is that I lay down my life—only to take it up again, 18 No one takes it from me, but I lay it down of my own accord. I have authority to lay it down and authority to take it up again. This command I received from my Father” (John 10:17-18)

And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross. Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, 10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, 11 and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. Philippians 2:8-11

His persecutors nailed him to the cross and publicly executed him; However, his death was powerfully significant and profound, for the whole objective of the sacrifice in which Jesus Christ gave his life for a ransom for all, was to give life to the dead, in other words, to give life to those who were dead to God because of Sin.

Jesus presented himself to God for the sins of all mankind by the sacrificial offering of his body, in which his blood was shed to atone for the sins of the whole world.

The Location of Crucifixion

Calvary or Golgotha – this site was located outside ancient Jerusalem; Golgotha is a Aramaic word translated “the place of the skull”.

“And when they had come to the place called Calvary, there they crucified Him, and the criminals; one on the right hand and the other on the left”(Luke 23:33).

1 Peter 3:18 declares “For Christ also suffered once for sins, the righteous for the unrighteous, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh but made alive in the spirit”.

“For it pleased the Father that in him should all fullness dwell;  And, having made peace through the blood of his cross, by him to reconcile all things unto himself; by him, I say , whether they be things in earth, or things in heaven” (Colossians 1:19-20).

We are no longer slaves to sin

“For if we have been united with him in a death like his, we will certainly also be united with him in a resurrection like his. For we know that our old self was crucified with him so that the body ruled by sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves to sin”. (Romans 6:5-6)

Note – Jesus the Sacrificial Lamb – the uttermost demonstration of God’s Love and mercies towards us all.

However I reiterate, it is of the upmost importance that the individual who wants to experience the wonder working cleansing Power of God in his life, that he be prepared to present his body a living sacrifice by his decision to turn from sin; this will indeed ensure that the atoning Power of the Blood of Jesus Christ is effective throughout his life.

We Now Have Confidence to Approach God

Hebrews 10:19  reveals the confidence that we now have to enter that Holy place by the Blood of His Son. Ephesians 2:13 (below) also substantiates this scripture:

“But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far away have been brought near by the blood of Christ”

Isaiah 53:5“..He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, And by His stripes we are healed”

Note, Colossians 1:21 declares that man is indeed alienated and separated from God because of iniquity; However by the Power of the sacrificial Blood of Jesus we can now boldly come into God’s presence to offer praises, worship, and prayers without the guilt of sin.

Revelation 13:8

“and all who dwell on earth will worship it, everyone whose name has not been written before the foundation of the world in the book of life of the Lamb who was slain.

According to the above scripture the Lord God knew before creation that man would fall, nevertheless his love prepared for what was going to happen. His Great divine plan and purpose was already in the pipework of mercy, to help mankind to escape the troubles which was to come upon them due to the fall, that their names which was foreordained in the Book of Life before creation, by faith in Jesus Christ, which was also foreordained, may be indeed be acknowledged on the Day of the Lord.

However note, in light of God’s righteousness and his hatred of sin, and his foreknowledge of what was ahead before creating man, He could of simply decided against creating humans, eradicating all that he had planned; however his redemptive plan for mankind was already foremost in his mind.

Let us be reminded

God knows every individual before they are created flesh and blood but yet He loved us. The Love that God had for his children far exceeded human comprehension, and so great was this love that he still proceeded to create us and give us life even in the face of the dilemma which was ahead.

Jeremiah 1:5  reveals that the Lord indeed knows every man before they are created or even conceived in his mother’s womb:

“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.”

However, even in the face of the provocation which was to come God had already prepared for the fall; The omniscient God knew that man’s heart would one day turn from him because of sin, but yet he still proceeded to carefully create us and to declare his creation good.

Genesis 1:31– “God saw all that he had made, and declared it was very good”

This is purely God’s Grace and Mercies.

God’s Grace and Mercy outweighed his anger towards sin. MERCY SAID NO to the total annihilation of man which was to come due to iniquity. God’s declaration of his mercies is revealed in Isaiah 1:18:

“Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool”.

2 Chronicles 7:14 further reveals His mercies:

“If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land”.

Jesus calls sinners to come to Him

Before we are washed in the blood of JESUS through faith, we are all sinners; “sinners” simply mean we do not meet up to the standards of God’s righteousness, due to sin; But thankfully through Grace, God has mercifully made a way of escape for us all through his Son, even though we’ve done nothing to deserve it.

God expresses his Agape love – See Jeremiah 29:11-

“For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end”.

The Conclusion of the Matter

The mercies of God are revealed to all the world through his Love, which he shows towards the righteous and the ungodly; and although man had gone against God’s supreme order, God’s tender mercies and loving kindness superseded the curse which was pronounced on him.

His mercies set a precedent that would set on course great interventions of God’s Power and Love, to turn that which had become evil, filthy, spoilt, lost, unclean, rebellious, dark, and degenerative back to its original state of holiness.

Psalms 51:5 states the condition of man:

“Behold, I was shapen in iniquity; and in sin did my mother conceive me”.

Man, born of a Woman is tainted by sin; hence we humans cannot simply wash away sin with soap and water or by repentance by word of mouth only; Why ?

Answer: We are spiritually tainted by sin, from the core of our spirit, therefore only through the power of the Blood of Jesus are we cleansed. Note, this spiritual application of the Blood of Jesus can only come through faith.
