A Call For Holiness

God has Specifically instructed his people to walk holy for he is HOLY

1 Peter 1:1516 “but as He who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, 16 because it is written, “Be holy, for I am holy.

The Scriptures above (1 Peter 1:15-16) and 1 Samuel 2:2 expresses explicitly the essence of who God is – HE IS HOLY; This proclamation of God’s Holiness and His direct command that We Must be Holy immediately places scrutiny on our allegiance to him. There is also emphasis in terms of our duties towards Him, which must be exercised all the way with all diligence, spiritual genuineness and due honour to him.

Note, in terms of being a Christian Soldier one must be spiritually aware and vigilant to check whether ones allegiance to GOD is according to the will of God? Is it totally subjected to God? or is it flawed with Our Own Will coupled with disobedience? In the midst of our examining and questioning of our relationship with God, it is imperative for all to know that our allegiance to him must be Genuine, True and Whole in terms of our Love, Worship and total abstinence from sin, for the purpose of Glorifying and Honouring him; endeavouring all the way to show Him This Honour with genuine adoration by our total obedience to him, NOT PART OBEDIENCE.

Note, Part obedience is a deception from the devil, a sinful act, which will always cancel out holiness without delay, putting the individual on the road of condemnation and Lukewarmness; WHY would this Happen?

Answer – The King of kings is a Holy God, and they who serve him must serve him in Spirit and in Truth (ref. John 4:24); Part Obedience Is Not serving God in spirit and in truth, and they who commit this act of deception is mocking no other but themselves; whether they commit it consciously (presumptuously sin), or ignorantly, it is sin all the same, and they that do it will in the end face the penalty for their sins, and be judged for every sin committed, even for the sin of deceiving their own selves, if they do not turn from it.

There is none beside him, neither will there be in this world or the world to come (the Kingdom of God). He is the El Shaddai the Almighty God, a Holy God, and All must walk Holy before him, for he will never accept unrighteousness. The Scriptures declares in 2 Timothy 2:21 :-

“…. if anyone cleanses himself from what is dishonourable, he will be a vessel for honourable use, set apart as holy, useful to the master of the house, ready for every good work”

It is detrimental in all aspects of our lives if we seem to come short of this knowledge, and also somehow forgetful of the fact that the Sovereign God of Holiness abhors sin and wickedness and every evil deed; the Lord expresses in Isaiah 59:2 his hatred of sin, which has caused him to separate from those who commit it.

Further more, He hides his face from those who do evil, so that He would not hear them when they call on him; This means they who live in sin, and those who continue to live in sin after being cleansed from their sins, who also use excuses to justify there sinful ways, Will only Grieve God, which will only bring the wrath of God if the individual refuses to acknowledge is wrong doings to turn away from it.

Their way of thinking is defiled, for they think God will be easy on sin, these individuals presumptuously think that it is okay to live the way they want to live, in terms of walking in their own fleshy sinful way, thinking throughout that God will forgive them after they have fulfilled the desires of their flesh. This way of living for God, only dishonours God; These Christian individuals who live this counterfeit life cannot expect God to honour them or to honour their prayers; See 1 Samuel 2:30 :-

“Therefore the LORD, the God of Israel, declares: ‘I promised that members of your family would minister before me forever.’ But now the LORD declares: ‘Far be it from me! Those who honor me I will honor, but those who despise me will be disdained“.

Nevertheless, Blessed be God, because of His mercies he is calling All to come out of sin, to walk in holiness by Faith in Jesus Christ, by the repenting of all sins committed to receive the forgiveness of sins. However they who continue to sin after been cleansed from their sin will no way be exonerated if they choose to go back into sin. Hebrews 12:26 gives warning :-

For if we sin willfully after we have received the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins

More about Holiness

The Biblical definition of Holy

The Greek word for Holy is Hagios, which means faultlessness, purity, consecrated, set apart, to be morally blameless.

The Hebrew word for Holy is “qodesh” which means set apart, sacred.

What is Holiness?

Holiness is the state of being faithful to God, rejecting all that is sinful to do to live a righteous life; this means that the individual’s conscious spiritual state is alive to God, and in submission to Him in terms of his obedience and reverence to God and His Word.

Being Holy…..

Being holy brings the individual in alignment with God in the spirit, in which the individual spiritually shows his love for God, by his adherence to His Word; this Adherence to the Word of God brings him in connection and agreement with God. Note, this individual has received the Word of God with gladness by faith, and is now resolved in his heart to obey it.

The individual’s submissiveness to God brings him into accountability and responsibility in terms of his Spiritual walk with God, for at this time the individual must now be spiritually prepared to diligently ensure his obedience to God, this is purely for the love that he has for Him. Note, the Lord is able to Spiritually build this individual and to keep him from falling back into sin, please be careful to know that this is because of the pledge he has made to God to obey Him. See Revelation 3:10:-

“Because thou hast kept the word of my patience, I also will keep thee from the hour of temptation, which shall come upon all the world, to try them that dwell upon the earth”.

Recap – let us go into more depth concerning Holiness

Psalms 119:9 reveals:

“How can a young man cleanse his way? By taking heed according to Your word”.

As was mentioned earlier, the individual’s resolved state of mind has now aligned him spiritually with the Spirit of God and His Word, in which he begins to love God liberally by the surrendering of his Will and having a resolved mind to totally give up sin; However note, if the individual is in Part Obedience with God, this will null (bring to nought) the process of reconciliation with God, cancelling out holiness.

Again I will reiterate, that to be Holy is entirely dependent on the actions of the individual, whether he genuinely wants to turn from sin or not; however this can only take place or be achieved by the help and intervention of the Holy Spirit in which the refining processes to deliver the individual from all carnality brings purity of the spirit; but this individual must be willing to work with the Holy Spirt by his resolved decision to obey God. Hence, in this spiritual and liberating condition in walking in the Light, the individual is now deemed to be Holy.

When someone makes the decision to love God in terms of abstaining from sin to walk in the holiness of God, it becomes a remarkable spiritual journey with God, for during this process of healing with God, the individual begins to spiritually flower in the spirit in terms of him experiencing a spiritual uplift. This spiritual uplift is due to the Holy Spirit processes of gradually removing all strongholds and baggage of the individual’s former sinful life. However, this process is dependent on the individual’s faithfulness to the call of God, that is to be truly faithful to do all God has commanded, and to hate sin by actively rejecting it. John 14:15 declares:

if you Love me, Keep my Commandments – because of the love that the individual has for God, he will receive the blessings of God during his walk with God, because he does the things that are pleasing to God. See below Psalms 1:1-3

“Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, Nor stands in the path of sinners, Nor sits in the seat of the scornful; But his delight is in the law of the Lord, And in His law he meditates day and night. He shall be like a tree Planted by the rivers of water, That brings forth its fruit in its season, Whose leaf also shall not wither; And whatever he does shall prosper”.

Before Jesus was manifested, God Instructed the children of Israel (God’s chosen people) to be Holy

God speaks to the Children of Israel in Leviticus 19:2

“Speak unto all the congregation of the children of Israel, and say unto them, Ye shall be holy: for I the Lord your God am holy”

In order for the Children of Israel to meet up to this requirement of holiness, the Lord God required that the Children of Israel follow the laws given, they were also required of God to offer up animal blood sacrifices (sin offerings) which in that instance would temporarily cleansed them from their sins. These sacrifices were put in place as a temporary solution to a massive problem, which did help to appease God, a little bit; Nevertheless, God accepted these sacrifices in his mercies, which did render them holy before the Holy God, however they had to offer these sin offerings sacrifices for their sins continuously; Again, this was a temporary measure, a shadow of things to come, until Jesus was manifested, for the blood of animals could not take away inward sins.

Hebrew 10:1-4 makes clear to us the weaknesses of the sin offerings which the children of Israel offered to God, which could never cleanse their inward sins.

“For the law, having a shadow of the good things to come, and not the very image of the things, can never with these same sacrifices, which they offer continually year by year, make those who approach perfect. For then would they not have ceased to be offered? For the worshippers, once purified, would have had no more consciousness of sins. But in those sacrifices there is a reminder of sins every year. For it is not possible that the blood of bulls and goats could take away sins” ;

But when Jesus comes into a individual’s life, the blood of Jesus would ultimately destroy the works of darkness in his whole life; this action of God Supernaturally removes our inward sins, which will brings holiness and strength in the Spirit to resist sins.

The Composition of the Life giving Blood of Jesus compared to Man’s Blood

It’s important all around to understand the properties of blood in comparison to the Blood of Jesus. I will use simple terms when describing the vital life-maintaining works involved with blood.

Blood is the lifeline for the body. Every cell in our body is contained in the blood and is transported throughout the whole body. The oxygen from the lungs which oxygenates the cells are also transported with the blood. These cells are then renewed with new blood and new oxygen approximately every 50 seconds, this amazing life sustaining system renews and sustains the life of the cell systematically.

It’s also important to know that blood not only contains oxygen but nutrients; Nutrients helps to keep the body alive and healthy, for the Body is dependent on the oxygenated cells, and the nutrients which keeps the cells alive, hence sustaining the life of the whole body.

Blood also transports Carbon Dioxide one of the waste products of the body, which is then exhaled by the lungs. Other waste materials are also transported by the blood from the Kidneys, Liver and intestines. It is also important to know that the substance of blood also maintains and regulates the temperature of our body, hence, keeping the body with its organs in absolute synchronization for the purpose of maintaining life. The White blood cells are the cells of the immune system, these cells are also transported by the blood. When the body is sick or injured, these white blood cells protect the body from infections and other foreign invaders.

In Comparison, The Blood of Jesus

The cleansing /Life giving properties of the Blood of Jesus.

The blood of Jesus not only cleanses and removes darkness with all its impurities and putrid mess of unrighteousness from our spiritual bodies, but it also has protective factors which explicitly protects the individual from all spiritual attacks.

Proverbs 18:10 “The name of the Lord is a strong tower; the righteous man runs into it and is safe”.

The composition of the Blood of Jesus is so powerful that it can remove the curse of sin and all uncleanness from the body by the Power of God. when we compare the oxygenated blood of our own physical bodies and the spiritual life giving blood of Jesus with its life giving properties, there is no earthly element or man’s involvement here in terms of the Blood of Jesus, for God’s intervention is evident by the power of the Holy spirit.

The revelation knowledge of the Blood of Jesus Christ according to the Word of God, reveals to us that the blood of Jesus is the spiritual dimension of God’s saving grace, in which the blood of his Son brings life to our spiritually dead body, awakening us spiritually to God in the Light.

It is through this spiritual divine transfusion of the blood of Jesus that God makes that which had become unclean and spiritually dead because of sin, Clean, bringing new life to the individual’s spiritual body by the Spiritual Cleansing Power of the Blood of Jesus.

Recap – The Blood of Jesus regulates our spiritual body to deliver us from temptations, evil thoughts, fleshy sinful emotions, and every sin of the heart. It maintains our whole life in the spirit, regulating and sustaining our spiritual life with God; hence, bringing God’s protection throughout. See Isaiah 54:17 – Therefore…

No weapon formed against you shall prosper, And every tongue which rises against you in judgment You shall condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, And their righteousness is from Me,” Says the Lord”.

What does it mean to Be perfect as I am perfect?

(ref. Matthew 5:48)

The word perfect derives from the Greek transliterated word teleios which means “whole” or “complete“; hence when the Lord called us to be perfect he was actually commanding us to be whole and complete as we were before the fall in terms of Holiness unto the Lord, also to be in agreement with Him to live a life of Righteousness, which brings us in Right Standing with God.

To be Whole also implies, where we were once broken and wretched because of sin, we are now made whole by faith.

During the great transition from Darkness to Light, the Lord changes and transforms the individual’s life, setting him apart for himself to make him whole and complete in him again, thus restoring holiness. However we must carefully keep in mind that all this is dependant on the individual’s love for God.

We must not continue in sin after conversion!

We must earnestly maintain our relationship with God by the daily maintenance of faith, obedience, prayer life, studying of his Word, application of his Word. This is all in aid of bringing spiritual growth by the works of righteousness.

Note, Our own works of righteousness is flawed to the core and will not keep sin away, but by the righteousness of God we’re able to maintain His righteousness throughout, which will help us to go against all sinful desires to dismiss it.

Clean By His Word

John 15:3 declares:

“Now ye are clean through the Word which I have spoken unto you”.

2 TIMOTHY 2:15-16 (below) states the importance of the Word of God, that is that we maintain it throughout our lives:-

“Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.16 But shun profane and vain babblings: for they will increase unto more ungodliness”.

Maintenance of the Light

To maintain the Light of Jesus in our lives we must absolutely endeavor not to be a hearer of the Word only, but also a doer of the Word. See below James 1:22-25

“But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. 23 For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man observing his natural face in a mirror; 24 for he observes himself, goes away, and immediately forgets what kind of man he was. 25 But he who looks into the perfect law of liberty and continues in it, and is not a forgetful hearer but a doer of the work, this one will be blessed in what he does”.

Hearer and Doer of God’s Word?

God’s Word…

You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no other commandment greater than these.” Mark 12:31

According to this scriptures (above) we are commanded by God to Love Everyone, if we disobey and go against this command and instead malice, abuse and cheat one another or even have unforgiveness in our hearts, WE ARE NOT DOERS OF THE WORD OF GOD. If we try to defame or backbite or try to belittle anyone, Even to love one more than the other, We are not Doers of the Word.

We must with all attentiveness ensure at all times to Obey God’s Word to truly Love each other, but Not when we feel like it; When we obey this command of God we will be a Doer of God’s Word; We must also allow the AGAPE Love of God to work within our hearts, God’s Agape Love will never allow us to abuse anyone with Hate behaviour, sadly this is what it boils down too when we treat anyone badly.

I will reiterate again the importance of NOT showing Part obedience to God, but to make it sure with all diligence to show true sincerity towards God with all our heart. Note, the level of our sincerity to God will determine our obedience to him.

1 Peter 1:14 “As obedient children, not conforming yourselves to the former lusts, as in your ignorance”.

The whole duty of man is to love God with all our heart, with all our strength and with all our soul Mark 12: 32-33. We must also present our bodies a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable unto God which is our reasonable service in Jesus name. ref. Romans 12:1

Strategies to be Victorious

Decision making plays a large part when it comes to putting forward strategic measures to be a over-comer in God. These strategic measures will bring the individual to adapt to spiritual strategies NOT fleshy derived strategies, which will help him to be spiritually infused with the know-how by the Wisdom of God to do what it takes to be victories. For example the strategies of putting on the whole Armour of God and maintaining a prayer life throughout, helps to build the individual strong in the spirit, enabling him to be mighty in the spirit when challenges are presented.

We Must-

Put on the whole Armour of God that your able to stand against the wiles of the devil” !

Ephesians 6:10-18

Our commitment to God will determine our relationship with God. We are called to be a Holy nation, Soldiers of God. However, to be a true Soldier of God we must be clad with the Armour of God. With this Armour we’re able to withstand against every evil dart of the devil. The putting on of the whole Armour of God will ensure victory and protect the individual, sealing the relationship between God and himself; However A Word of Warning! We must be rooted and grounded in the Word of God to be able to put on this Spiritual Whole Armour of God.

For as many are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God; For the Lord God is surely able to keep His Soldier from falling down in the battle, and also present him faultless and holy before the presence of his glory, when this soldier is clad with His Armour; ref. Jude 1:24 -25 .

“But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light”. 1 Peter 2:9

In order to enter the spiritual realm of God’s Holy courts we need to know exactly what is required.

PSALMS 24:3-4 “Who shall ascend into the hill of the LORD? or who shall stand in his holy place?  He that hath clean hands, and a pure heart; who hath not lifted up his soul unto vanity, nor sworn deceitfully.

God won’t except anything less than Holiness.

The enemies objectives is to try to bombard Christians with the cares of the world, to take them off the track of righteousness. But with all durability of the spirit we must stand faithful, vigilant, diligent, watchful, prayerful, for the the Lord has equipped us with his power and authority to stand.

Luke 10:19 declares  “Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you”.

Calling all Saints of God and the Whole World

that I may edify, remind and encourage you all, that the Lord God is coming to Judge this world according to every individual’s deeds committed on the earth; He is coming for a holy people, a holy nation, and they shall reign with him for all eternity. ref. Daniel 7:18

We must with all diligence resist the devil, at all cost, by the Power of God in Jesus name. For Obedience is better than sacrifice (ref. 1 Samuel 15:22), that we may be found Worthy to enter in the Kingdom of Heaven.

Judgement Day

Matthew 25:31-46 “When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, then he will sit on his glorious throne. Before him will be gathered all the nations, and he will separate people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. And he will place the sheep on his right, but the goats on the left. Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world. For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, …

2 Corinthians 5:10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each one may receive what is due for what he has done in the body, whether good or evil.

The enemies of God (Satan and the Fallen Angels) do tremble when they know One is no longer standing with them in sin, instead the individual is going against them by obedience to God. Once the mind of the individual is made up to absolutely obey God to turn from sin, and the goal is Light, no matter what he’s going through, he’s already a winner by the power of God; and with endurance and attentiveness to obey God in all things he will reach that Heavenly Place.

God restores each of his children by his Great mercies, by faith; that each individual may be one with him in Holiness, with all reverence to him, with Joy unspeakable.

Revelation 22:14 “Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city”.
