A Call For Holiness

God has Specifically instructed his people to walk Holy for he is HOLY

“but as He who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, 16 because it is written, “Be holy, for I am holy. 1 Peter 1:15-16

The Scriptures above (1 Peter 1:15-16) and 1 Samuel 2:2 expresses explicitly the Essence of who God is – HE IS HOLY.

This proclamation of God’s holiness and His direct command that We Must be Holy immediately places scrutiny on our allegiance to him. There is also emphasis in terms of our duties towards Him, which must be exercised throughout with all diligence, spiritual genuineness, and due honour to him.

Note, in terms of being a Christian Soldier the individual must endeavour in his heart to be spiritually aware and vigilant, to check daily whether his allegiance to GOD is according to the will of God? Is it totally subjected to God? or is it flawed with his own Will coupled with disobedience?

In the midst of this individual’s examining and questioning of his relationship with God, it is imperative for all to know that this individual’s allegiance to God must be absolutely genuine, true, and whole in terms of Worship and diligency, in showing God true allegiance by the abstaining from sin.

This diligence towards God is for the purpose of honouring Him, endeavouring all the way with a made up mind, to show God this due honour, with genuine adoration by his total obedience to him, Not Part obedience. Part obedience will indicate that the other parts are the opposite, that is disobedience, for it could be no other, for man’s nature is carnal not holy until God intervenes, therefore this ‘part obedience’ will indicate that there is sin in his life, which will always cancel out holiness, totally.

Part Obedience is Lukewarmness, God hates it!

Part obedience is a deception from the devil, a sinful act, a ploy to try to get this part obedient Christian individual, who is not totally surrendered to God, to fulfil his sinful fleshy desires, and be comfortable in it; hence, living in acceptance with this deceptive condition, which again will always cancel out holiness without delay, putting this individual on the road of condemnation and lukewarmness;

Revelation 3:16 – So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth.

More on WHY this would Happen?

Answer – The Lord God is a Holy God, and they who serve him must serve him in Spirit and in Truth (ref. John 4:24); Part Obedience Is Not serving God in spirit and in truth. To put it plainly, it’s rather more to do with the individual’s sinful desires, who wants his own way, not being prepared to adhere to submit to God totally, that is to obey Him on everything, but rather him mainly presenting excuses, but yet, at the same time proclaiming He loves God.

James 3:10-12 From the same mouth come blessing and cursing. My brothers, these things ought not to be so. Does a spring pour forth from the same opening both fresh and salt water? Can a fig tree, my brothers, bear olives, or a grapevine produce figs? Neither can a salt pond yield fresh water.

They who commit this act of deception is mocking no other but themselves; whether they commit it consciously, presumptuously, or ignorantly, it is sin all the same, and they that do it will in the end face the penalty, and be judged for every sin committed, even for the sin of deceiving their own selves, if they do not turn from it. See scriptures below:

1 John 1:6 – If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth.

James 1:22 – But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.

There is none beside him, neither will there be in this world or the world to come. He is the El Shaddai – the Almighty God, A righteous God, who would never accept unrighteousness in our lives. To sin against God is an dishonouring thing, and a absolute abomination, to Him, for it transgresses His righteous laws. The Scriptures declares in 2 Timothy 2:21 :-

“…. if anyone cleanses himself from what is dishonourable, he will be a vessel for honourable use, set apart as holy, useful to the master of the house, ready for every good work”

It is therefore detrimental, in all aspects of our lives if we seem to come short of this knowledge, and also somehow forgetful of the Fact, that the Sovereign God of Holiness abhors sin and wickedness, and every evil deed, and will certainly not settle for any sin that may be lingering in the Christian Individual’s life.

The Lord expresses his hatred of sin in Isaiah 59:2 , which has caused him to separate from those who commit it.

Further more, He also hides his face from those who do evil, so that He would not hear; This means they who live in sin, and those who continue to live in sin after being cleansed from it, and who then uses excuses to justify there sinful ways, will only grieve God, which will only bring the wrath of God in the end, if the individual refuses to acknowledge is wrong doings to turn away from it.

A Christian can become a Presumptuous Sinner if he chooses so, by him dismissing the way God wants him to live, by his lack of commitment in the things of God; also keep in mind this condition has become a daily occurrence in this individual’s life.

Their way of thinking is defiled, for they think God will be easy on sin, these individuals presumptuously think that it is okay to live the way they want to live, in terms of, at times walking in their own fleshy sinful way, thinking throughout that God will forgive them after they have fulfilled the desires of their flesh. This way of living for God, only dishonours God; These Christian individuals who live this counterfeit life cannot expect God to honour them or to honour their prayers; See 1 Samuel 2:30 :-

“Therefore the LORD, the God of Israel, declares: ‘I promised that members of your family would minister before me forever.’ But now the LORD declares: ‘Far be it from me! Those who honor me I will honor, but those who despise me will be disdained“.

Nevertheless, blessed be God, because of His mercies he is calling All to come out of sin with their whole hearts, and for them to also walk in holiness by faith in His Son, by the repenting of all sins committed to receive the forgiveness of sins. However, they who continue to sin after been cleansed from their sins, will no way be exonerated if they choose to go back into it. This desire fulfilled is due to no other but the flesh yearning for the things of the world, in which the individual obliges. Hebrews 12:26 gives warning :-

For if we sin willfully after we have received the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins

More about Holiness

The Biblical definition of Holy

The Greek word for Holy is Hagios, which means faultlessness, purity, consecrated, set apart, to be morally blameless.

The Hebrew word for Holy is “qodesh” which means set apart, sacred.

What is Holiness?

Holiness is the state of being faithful to God, rejecting all that is sinful to do to live a righteous life; this means that the individual’s conscious state is alive to God and in submission to Him, in terms of his obedience and reverence to God and His Word.

More in Depth…..

Being holy brings the individual in alignment with God in the spirit, in which the individual spiritually shows his love for God; this is achieved by the individual’s adherence to His Word; this Adherence also brings him in connection and agreement with God. Note, this individual has received the Word of God with gladness by faith, and is now resolved in his heart to obey it.

The individual’s submissiveness to God also brings him into accountability and responsibility, in terms of his Spiritual walk with God; for at this time the individual must now be spiritually prepared to diligently ensure his allegiance to God by his submission to him. This act of showing his faithfulness to God, is purely due to the love that he has for Him.

Note, the Lord is able to Spiritually build and sustain this individual to keep him from falling back into sin; however, the individual must also be truly submitted to the Almighty God for this to work. Please be careful to know that this is due to the pledge of allegiance he has made to God to obey Him, and by this pledge the individual is able to usurp authority over the devil to have victory over sin by the help of God. See Revelation 3:10:-

“Because thou hast kept the word of my patience, I also will keep thee from the hour of temptation, which shall come upon all the world, to try them that dwell upon the earth”.

Recap – Concerning Holiness

Psalms 119:9 reveals:

“How can a young man cleanse his way? By taking heed according to Your Word”.

As was mentioned earlier, the individual’s resolved state of mind has now aligned him spiritually with the Spirit of God and His Word, in which he begins to love God liberally by the surrendering of his whole will. And with this resolved mind to please God not himself, he totally gives up sin, fighting with God’s help, in the spirit, the battle against sin throughout, to totally reject it. However note, if the individual is in Part Obedience with God, this will Null (bring to nought) the process of reconciliation with God, cancelling out holiness.

Again I will reiterate, that to be Holy is entirely dependent on the actions of the individual, whether he genuinely wants to turn from sin or not; however this can only take place or be achieved by the help and intervention of the Holy Spirit in which the refining processes which delivers the individual from all carnality are in operation, that by the power of God the spirit is purified; However this individual must be willing to work with the Holy Spirit by his resolved decision to obey God. Hence, in this spiritual and liberating condition in walking in the Light, the individual is now deemed to be Holy.

When someone makes the decision to love God in terms of abstinence from sin, to walk in the holiness of God, it becomes a remarkable spiritual journey with God, for during this process of healing with God, the individual begins to spiritually flower in the spirit in terms of him experiencing a spiritual uplift. This spiritual uplift is due to the Holy Spirit processes of gradually removing all strongholds and baggage of the individual’s former sinful life. However again, this process is dependent on the individual’s faithfulness To the Call of God, that is to be truly faithful to do all God has commanded, and to hate sin by actively rejecting it. John 14:15 declares:

if you Love me, Keep my CommandmentsWhen man pleases God….

“Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, Nor stands in the path of sinners, Nor sits in the seat of the scornful; But his delight is in the law of the Lord, And in His law he meditates day and night. He shall be like a tree Planted by the rivers of water, That brings forth its fruit in its season, Whose leaf also shall not wither; And whatever he does shall prosper”. Psalms 1:1-3

Before Jesus was manifested, God Instructed the children of Israel (God’s chosen people) to be Holy

God spoke to the Children of Israel in Leviticus 19:2

“Speak unto all the congregation of the children of Israel, and say unto them, Ye shall be holy: for I the Lord your God am holy”

In order for the Children of Israel to meet up to this requirement of holiness, the Lord God required that the Children of Israel follow the laws that were given to them, they were also required of God to offer up animal blood sacrifices (sin offerings) with the sprinkling of the blood on the alter, which in that instance would temporarily cleansed them from their sins. These sacrifices were put in place as a temporary solution to a massive problem, however, it did help to appease God;

God accepted these sacrifices in his mercies, which did render them holy before the Holy God, however they had to offer these sin offerings continuously due to their constant sinning ; Again I reiterate that this was a temporary measure, a shadow of things to come, until Jesus the ultimate sacrifice was manifested, for the blood of animals could not take away inward sins.

Hebrew 10:1-4 reveals the weakness of the sin offerings –

“For the law, having a shadow of the good things to come, and not the very image of the things, can never with these same sacrifices, which they offer continually year by year, make those who approach perfect. For then would they not have ceased to be offered? For the worshippers, once purified, would have had no more consciousness of sins. But in those sacrifices there is a reminder of sins every year. For it is not possible that the blood of bulls and goats could take away sins” ;

But when Jesus comes into the life of the individual, His blood would ultimately destroy the works of darkness in his life; this action of God is a supernatural event which Supernaturally removes the inward sins, which brings holiness and strength to the Spirit to resist sin.

The Composition of the Life giving Blood of Jesus compared to Man’s Blood

It’s important all around to understand the properties of blood in comparison to the Blood of Jesus. I will use simple terms when describing the vital life-maintaining works involved with blood.

Blood is the lifeline for the body. Every cell in our body is contained in the blood and is transported throughout the whole body. The oxygen from the lungs which oxygenates the cells are also transported with the blood. These cells are then renewed with new blood and new oxygen approximately every 50 seconds, this amazing life sustaining system renews and sustains the life of the cell systematically.

It’s also important to know that blood not only contains oxygen but nutrients; Nutrients helps to keep the body alive and healthy, for the Body is dependent on the oxygenated cells, and also the nutrients which keeps the cells alive, hence sustaining the life of the whole body.

Blood also transports Carbon Dioxide one of the waste products of the body, which is then exhaled by the lungs. Other waste materials are also transported by the blood from the Kidneys, Liver and intestines. It is also important to know that the substance of blood also maintains and regulates the temperature of our body, hence, keeping the body with its organs in absolute synchronization for the purpose of maintaining life. The White blood cells are the cells of the immune system, these cells are also transported by the blood. When the body is sick or injured, these white blood cells protect the body from infections and other foreign invaders.

In Comparison, The Blood of Jesus

The cleansing /Life giving properties of the Blood of Jesus.

The blood of Jesus not only cleanses and removes darkness with all its impurities and putrid mess of unrighteousness from our spiritual bodies, but it also has protective factors which explicitly protects the individual from all spiritual attacks, maintaining the spiritual body for the purpose of maintaining the life of the Spirit, keeping it alive to God.

Proverbs 18:10 “The name of the Lord is a strong tower; the righteous man runs into it and is safe”.

The composition of the Blood of Jesus is so powerful that it can remove the curse of sin, and also destroy every evil element that held the individual captive by the Power of God. When we compare the oxygenated blood of our own physical bodies and the spiritual life giving blood of Jesus with its life giving properties, there is no earthly element or man’s involvement in terms of the Blood of Jesus, for God’s intervention concerning the Blood of Jesus is a spiritual event, and is obviously evident by the transformation of the individual by the power of the Holy Spirit.

The revelation knowledge of the Word of God concerning the Blood of Jesus Christ, reveals that His blood is one of the Great Spiritual Wonders of God’s saving grace, that brings life to our spiritually dead bodies, awakening it spiritually to God by the Light of it.

It is through this spiritual divine transfusion of the blood of Jesus, coupled with The Word, God makes that which had become unclean and spiritually dead because of sin, Clean, bringing new life to the individual’s spiritual body by it’s Spiritual Cleansing Power.

Recap – The Blood of Jesus regulates our spiritual body to deliver us from temptations, evil thoughts, fleshy sinful emotions, and every sin of the heart. It maintains our whole life in the spirit, regulating and sustaining our spiritual life with God; hence, bringing God’s protection throughout. See Isaiah 54:17 – Therefore…

No weapon formed against you shall prosper, And every tongue which rises against you in judgment You shall condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, And their righteousness is from Me,” Says the Lord”.

What does it mean to Be perfect as I am perfect?

(ref. Matthew 5:48)

The word perfect derives from the Greek transliterated word teleios which means “whole” or “complete“; hence when the Lord called us to be perfect he was actually commanding us to be whole and complete as we were before the fall, in terms of Holiness unto the Lord, also to be in agreement with Him to live a life of Righteousness, which brings us in Right Standing with God.

To be Whole also implies, where we were once broken and wretched because of sin, we are now made whole by faith.

During the great transition from Darkness to Light, the Lord changes and transforms the individual’s life, setting him apart for himself to make him whole and complete in him again, thus restoring holiness. However again, all must carefully keep in mind that all this is dependant on the individual’s love for God.

We must not continue in sin after conversion!

We must earnestly maintain our relationship with God by the daily maintenance of faith, obedience, prayer life, studying of his Word, application of his Word. Note, this process of maintenance is all in aid of bringing spiritual growth by these works of righteousness.

Note, Our own works of righteousness is flawed to the core and will not keep sin away, instead it will only bring stagnation. Nevertheless, by the righteousness of God we’re able to maintain God’s righteousness by the spirit of the Light of Jesus, throughout.

Clean By His Word

John 15:3 declares:

“Now ye are clean through the Word which I have spoken unto you”.

2 TIMOTHY 2:15-16 (below) also states the importance of the Word, that throughout we maintain our life by it:-

“Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.16 But shun profane and vain babblings: for they will increase unto more ungodliness”.

Maintenance of the Light

To maintain the Light of Jesus in our lives we must absolutely endeavor not to be a hearer of the Word only, but also a doer of the Word. See below James 1:22-25

“But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. 23 For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man observing his natural face in a mirror; 24 for he observes himself, goes away, and immediately forgets what kind of man he was. 25 But he who looks into the perfect law of liberty and continues in it, and is not a forgetful hearer but a doer of the work, this one will be blessed in what he does”.

Being a Hearer and Doer of God’s Word Brings Holiness

See one example in God’s Word that we must obey

…”You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no other commandment greater than these.” Mark 12:31

According to this scripture Christians are commanded by God to love everyone, if anyone disobeys this crucial command and instead malice, abuse and disregard each other due to unforgiveness or a judgemental heart, THIS INDIVIDUAL IS NOT A DOER OF THE WORD OF GOD. If anyone defames, is rude, backbites or tries to belittle anyone, even to love one more than the other, THIS INDIVIDUAL IS NOT A DOER OF THE WORD, and if the individual continues in sin and then uses excuses to explain why he is not a doer, THIS INDIVIDUAL IS NOT A DOER OF THE WORD.

Christians are called to live Holy lives, therefore the Christian individual must with all attentiveness ensure that they at all times are truly showing God Love and adoration by his Obedience to Him.

The Christian individual must also endeavour to allow the Love of God to work within his heart, for God’s Love will never allow him to abuse anyone with hate behaviour, sadly this is what it boils down too when carnal flesh is at work instead of God’s spirit. The fleshy carnal mind can arise in an individual due to lack of attentiveness to God’s Word, which can consequently cause the individual to fall back in his old ways, that’s if the individual allows it, which again will cancel out holiness.

I will reiterate again that everyone who is called Christian must be aware of The Part obedience syndrome that can be found amongst Christians who are not prepared to give up sin totally, which will only lead to him deceiving his own self, but to make it sure with all diligence to show true sincerity towards God. Note, the level of our sincerity to God will determine our obedience to him. See 1 Peter 1:14

“As obedient children, not conforming yourselves to the former lusts, as in your ignorance”.

The whole duty of man is to love God with all our heart, with all our strength and with all our soul, ref. Mark 12: 32-33. We must also present our bodies a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable unto God which is our reasonable service in Jesus name. ref. Romans 12:1

Strategies to be Victorious

Decision making plays a large part when it comes to putting forward strategic measures to be a over-comer in God. These strategic measures by the help of the Holy Spirit will bring the individual to adapt to spiritual strategies NOT fleshy derived strategies, which will help him to be spiritually infused with the know-how by the Wisdom of God to do what it takes to be victorious. For example the strategies of putting on the whole Armour of God is to maintain a prayer life throughout and to walk in God’s righteousness; This will help to build the individual strong in the spirit, enabling him to be mighty in the spirit when challenges are presented, to overcome them.

We Must-

Put on the whole Armour of God that your able to stand against the wiles of the devil” !

Ephesians 6:10-18

Our commitment to God will determine our relationship with God, and because we are also called to be Soldiers of God, a true Soldier of God must be clad with the Armour of God. With this Armour we’re able to withstand against every evil dart of the devil which will ensure victory, protecting the individual.

However a Word of Warning! Every Soldier of God must be without fail rooted and grounded in the Word to be able to put on this Spiritual Armour.

For as many are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God; For God is able to keep His Servant from falling down in the battle, to present him faultless and holy before the presence of his glory when this Christian Soldier is clad with His Armour; ref. Jude 1:24 -25 .

“But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light”. 1 Peter 2:9

In order to enter the spiritual realm of God’s Holy courts we need to know exactly what is required.

PSALMS 24:3-4 “Who shall ascend into the hill of the LORD? or who shall stand in his holy place?  He that hath clean hands, and a pure heart; who hath not lifted up his soul unto vanity, nor sworn deceitfully.

God won’t except anything less than Holiness.

The enemies objectives is to try to bombard Christians with the cares of the world, to take them off the track of righteousness. But with all durability of the spirit we must stand faithful, vigilant, diligent, watchful, prayerful, for the the Lord has equipped us with his power and authority to stand.

Luke 10:19 declares  “Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you”.

To all the Saints of God – and to Those who have not yet come.

May I edify, remind and encourage you all, that the Lord God is coming to Judge this world according to every individual’s deeds committed on the earth; He is coming for a holy people, a holy nation, and they shall reign with him for all eternity. ref. Daniel 7:18

Every Christian Individual must with all diligence resist the devil, at all cost, by the Power of God in Jesus name. For Obedience is better than sacrifice (ref. 1 Samuel 15:22), that we may be found Worthy to enter in the Kingdom of Heaven.

Judgement Day

Matthew 25:31-46 “When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, then he will sit on his glorious throne. Before him will be gathered all the nations, and he will separate people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. And he will place the sheep on his right, but the goats on the left. Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world. For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, …

2 Corinthians 5:10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each one may receive what is due for what he has done in the body, whether good or evil.

The enemies of God (Satan and the Fallen Angels) do tremble when they know that this Soldier of God is no longer standing with them in sin and rebellion, instead the individual is going against them by obedience to God by faith in His Son Jesus.

Once the mind of the individual is made up to absolutely obey God to turn from sin, and the goal is Light, no matter what he’s going through, he’s already a winner by the power of God; and with endurance and attentiveness to obey God in all things he will reach that Heavenly Place. Weakness can create problems where the individual falls in to sin easily, however, to avoid this, Christians must follow the principles God has given to be strong not weak, if this Soldier finds himself in this weak sinful condition, he only has himself to blame if he’s not rejecting sin, especially if he’s found in this condition on Judgement Day, for God will never accept excuses for sin.

“Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city”. Revelation 22:14
